30 Days, 30 Dresses - Day 27 - 30

I have to admit that I cheated on this picture. I wore this dress to travel to London in but got changed in the smallest Bar toilets before attending an event!

This dress is from Yours Clothing.

Another Simply Be dress! This was my Christmas Day dress. I didn't blog it then and haven't worn it since. I'm not sure why, because I actually love it. I Just forgot how much! I wore this with my Clark's patented brogues and tights and my biker jacket. And, yes, I did the typical tourist thing and had my photo taken outside Selfridges!

Another Simply Be dress. Yes the majority of my clothes come from Simply Be! This is an old AX Paris dress. I always have to remember to wear leggings with this dress as its very short!

Time for a George dress. Another £10 special! Blue, animal print and swing style. Can't get much better!

Only two more dresses for you. I can't believe this month has gone so quickly.

Review - Bonmarche Maxi Dress

Tuesday - Day 26 - 30 Day, 30 Dresses.

I was recently contacted by the lovely Stef from Bonmarche who asked if I would be interested in reviewing an item from the new arrivals.

As we are hopefully beginning to see the start of summer I decided to choose an item that would see me through the nice weather, a maybe a sneaky break abroad somewhere.

I decided on the David Emanuel chevron print maxi dress*. I love maxi dresses, they are so versatile, and this monochrome print is bang on trend for the summer. I really want a pair of mid calf gladiator sandals to wear with it!

David Emanuel Zig Zag Maxi Dress

David Emanuel Zig Zag Maxi Dress

I ordered this dress in a size 20 standard length (it also comes in a long length and size 10-24) and its really true to size. Being 5'2, I often end up hitching up maxi dresses so they don't trail on the floor, but this one sits just on my ankles.

The options with this dress are endless. I can see me wearing it with my cons and biker jacket for a casual look or a little bolero cardigan and sandals for a more dressed up look.

30 Days, 30 Dresses - Days 22- 25

Oh My Gosh. I have managed to almost complete a full month challenge!!!

This is possibly the most unflattering dress I own. It's far too big. Which is a shame as I love it. Anyone want to buy it? It's from Simply Be last year and is a size 22.

I love this dress. Its from Live Unlimted and the photo does it no justice. Neither does my face! Have the seen the Friends episode where Chandler and Monica get engagement photos??

Another Simply Be dress. Well, shirt dress. Do you remember the leopard print dress from Day 14? This is the other print you came in. This is a size 22 and still very over sized.

Another Chandler and Monica photo moment. Sometimes my face just won't do what I want it to!!! This swing dress is originally from ASOS Curve, but I picked it up at a swap last year.

I can't wait to show you my next dress. It has a post all of its own!

Just Another Blogging Challenge - Did you know...

This months Just Another Blogging Challenge theme is 'something you don't know about me'.

I really don't think I thought the themes through when I picked this one.

I can't really think of anything to tell you that you don't already know.

I can tell you one of my biggest fears at the moment though.

One of my greatest fears at the moment is that Plus North won't be as good this year.  And it's not as Becky has stepped away from Plus North. It's a fear that I have had whilst organising the last two years too.

I panic that brands won't sign up, people won't buy tickets and that attendees will hate it and give us really bad review or everything will go tits up!

Please don't think that this is anything against Emma, Kim or Gemma. They all bring fabulous ideas to the table every Skype meeting we have and this years will be very different. ITS JUST ME!

I worry about things that other people wouldn't!

A bit silly really isn't it-

30 Days 30 Dresses Days 18 - 21

Here we are again. Not many more days left now.

If you are wondering where my glasses are from they are from SpecsPost and are I love them!

This dress is originally from F&F at Tesco, but I got it for 99p from eBay.

This was actually my first purchase from ASOS Curve last year. It's a grey Swing Dress and it's in a size 22. It's massive and think even an 18 would fit. I sometimes have issues with the length of dresses from ASOS, but this one is a good length. And the cute love heart cardigan is from Next.

Another Simply Be dress! This was a firm favourite with bloggers when it came out. It came in three different print, and if you see any of the others, let me know!

Another day, another Simply Be dress. I LOVE this dress. I got in the sale just before Christmas and it's been worn to death! It's so easy to wear. It also came in grey. Another look that I keep looking out for! As I new a few people who already had it, I took their advised and sized down. This is an 18 and fits perfectly.

On a totally different note, I am thinking about getting a fringe cut in. What do you think? Yey or nay?

You can see what I have already worn by selecting the days below.

Avon's Natural Eye Palette

I am a bit in love with Avon at the moment.

Some of their makeup is awesome and generally reasonably priced.

One of my latest Avon produces is this lovely natural palette (also available in metallic's)

Avon Natural Eye Palatte
Avon Natural Eye Palatte
When  I wear a full face of makeup I generally stick to natural eyes and bold lips, so these colours are definitely colours that I would use.

The majority of the shades apply really well.

I did have to use quite a bit of product for some of the shades (1,3 and 5 in particular).  I really like shades 4 and 7, and think that they will be the ones I will use the most of.

These palettes sell for £12 but are currently on offer for £7 (although I couldn't find a link to them on the Avon website). I think the full price is quite expensive for for Avon. Especially if you compare them to the likes of Barry M, Sleek, E.L.F and MUA.

What do you think? Do you use Avon products? What are your favourite shades?

30 Days 30 Dresses - Day 17

Cast your mind back to February... seems ages ago doesn't it? Well there was this plus size fashion thing in London that I had booked train tickets for, and even been sent a pretty dress to wear.

Unfortunately, I was struck down with the dreaded chest infection lurgy and I had to cancel at the last minute.

In my dire state of illness, I totally forgot to review the dress I was sent. Until i started my 30 Days 30 Dresses challenge.

What dress is it you ask?

Its this stunner from the lovely, amazing folks at Simply Be.

Simply Be Bird Print Doll Dress
Simply Be Bird Print Doll Dress

I love bird prints. On anything. I want birds on jeans next... like ditsy print, but birds.

Anyway. This dress has a slight dip hem at the back is a lovely zip detail to the back. The sleeves are a good length and the sizing is pretty much as you'd expect from Simply Be.

My only issue with this dress is that its short. I am 5'2 ish and its short on me. Maybe a size up would be better, but it would be a bit big.

I had fun taking these photos. I think I actually picked the windiest part of the day! I love that its light enough to take photos outside now!

Want to see the photo that didn't make it???

My dress flew up, my tripod blew over and I looked like I'd been dragged through that hedge!!

Oh No, Not Another Tag, ermm, Tag

This tag was created by Hayley from Tea Party Beauty.

The Rules

You must include both myself and the person who tagged you in your post (and the rules too).
Once you have answered all your questions you need to tag 5 people.

Tweet me (@TLoPerfect) a link to you post for a RT.
If you are tagged and you don't do the post you will have bad luck for 68.5years. FACT

You've made it BIG & bagged some VIP Fashion Week tickets. You lucky devil you. But in your rush to get there & get yourself noticed you forgot your VIP Passes. The guy on the door says he will cut you a deal, you can go in only if you sacrifice either your Front Row seat, backstage privileges or goody bag. What's it gonna be?

Definitely front row seats. I am not prim and proper enough to sit front row. And I can imaging snobby celebs would only piss me off. Plus I love goodie bags too much and I reckon there is always a bit of drama backstage. Imagine the sneaky photos you would take!

You're making a new Subscription box, what 4 items & which dreaded perfume sample would you include in it?

I would definitely put something really rubbish in to in, just for a laugh. And something totally non beauty related, like a harmonica! Maybe a biscuit and tea bag. For when you catching up on blogs, obviously!

What's your biggest blogging bug bear? The one thing guaranteed to make your blood boil & have you screaming/eye rolling at your laptop?

Bloggers who seem to have a never ending stream of money and constantly post hauls of high end products. OK, I get it! Your minted. No need to rub it in our faces. I would rather read sponsored/gifted posts one after another.

No more joining in Twitter chats only slightly relevant to your blog. You can only join in one blogger chat a week for the rest of your blogging days, which ones it gonna be & why?

I don't really get bloggers chats. They always seem to be monotonous and around the same topics. And they get bitchy too! I have enough of my own IRL drama. I don't need someone else's!

'Fess up, do you actually own any MAC? If so what don't you like about the product?

Nope. And I have no desire to. I LIED. I like their false eyelashes. I also have it on good authority that their products are full of shitty chemicals. I prefer brands that contain more natural products.

The blogging Gods ban arm swatching, which body part will you swatch on now?

How about where they are actually supposed to go? Eye shadows on eyes, Lipsticks on lips etc etc??

You can no longer have Yankee Candles & Perfume Bottles in the background of your shots, what other inanimate object will you choose?

A tattooed and bearded man? Or  maybe outside on the grass. Oooooh,  A tattooed and bearded man with no t-shirt laying on the grass!

Your blogs Instagram is it for cats or meal shots?

Neither. Shameless selfies. Not even happy selfies. My miserable face selfies. And occasionally what I have posted on my blog. (You can follow my instagram by clicking the link to the right!!)

I am going to tag.

and of course Hayley!

30 Days 30 Dresses Days 12 -16

Half way thought March already. How did that happen? I swear it was just Christmas?

Wednesdays dress is another George special. You really can't beat the price and quality of their items. I rarely have to return items. Plus you have a 100 day guarantee on items too!

This is a napi swing dress and was a whole £10. I got it last year some time, but they have the same dress in a smock style in store at the moment.

This is probably the dress that I have had the longest. It's from Simply Be and is about two years old. I also cracked out my denim jacket for the first time this year. Hopefully, the nicer weather is here to stay and I won't need to get my heavy Parker back out!

OK. So technically this isn't a dress. It's a shirt. A shirt dress. But as I am only a smidgen over 5'2 a lot of shirts like this are dress length for me. I have this in animal print and a tapestry floral print. I believe they are still in the sale section of Simply Be. If you do manage to get your hands on one, SIZE DOWN! This is a 24 and is massive. The floral one is a 22 and still very over sized.

Causal, casual easy day. I hardly ever wear this cardigan as it's ridiculously clicky and it malts. It's really warm and comfy though. I don't know if you can tell, but this dress has purple stars on it. I think I got it from Tesco.

I am really excited to show you my today's dress. I almost posted it with this, but it deserves a post all to itself!!

Yours Clothing Maidenform Shapewear review

I was recently contacted by Yours Clothing asking me if I would be interested in reviewing an item of shapewear from their Maidenform range.

On the whole I am pretty confident about my body, but like most women,  I have parts of me that I don't like. For me that is my shape. I'm all belly and tummy.

In the past I have worn cheaper, similar items of shapewear which didn't give the desired effect.  I think this is mainly due to the fact that I struggle with is what type of shape wear I should wear. I kinda have a two bellies thing going on,  so the shorts and vest combo doesn't work.

For this review, I decided to go for the Maidenform Singlet Black all in one. The singlet has a 'V' front so it will accommodate all boob sizes. I ordered this in a 20/22 (3XL), and its pretty true to size. It didn't sag any where or feel too tight any where.

Maidenform Flexees Singlet Black Shapewear

As you can see from the photos, there is definitely a difference. At the front it pulls me in and up, and smooths my belly. But I don't really think it makes any difference at the back.

Once I managed to the singlet on (it took me about five minutes!!) it was surprisingly comfortable. The straps are also fully adjustable and the back is high enough to cover my bra straps. The only issue I can see is when I needed to go to the toilet. It does have 'flaps' but I think it would be a 'I need to get fully undressed' situation every time I needed to pee.

Overall, I like this item of shapewear and I would definitely wear it again. I think it would make a huge difference when I wear a body con dress. It would definitely make me feel more comfortable.

If I was to review more shapewear I think I would be more tempted to go for some of the shorts that sit under your boobs.

What is your opinion on shapewear? Do you wear it?

30 Days, 30 Dress - Days six to eleven

This is one of my favourite dresses. It's from the maternity range at Next. It's so comfy and looks great with boots, flats and brogues.

I didn't take pics of my dress, but will update as soon as I have. It was a animal print swing dress from George at Asda!

I had a day off dresses today. I needed to wash leggings and tights!!!

I made a quick trip in to Leeds to meet my mum. Its was lovely weather on Sunday so I stuck on a dress I bought from Matalan at the end of last summer and never got around to wearing it. I Think It was only £5. (Note to self - posing like this gives me odd boobs!)

The Sun was shining yet again and I swear it makes me feel a whole load better. I love winter, but I really miss my vitamin D. Anyone for a winter holiday?

I bought this dress from a blog sales ages ago and this is the first time I have worn it. Its from New Look (straight range size 18,) and I can't decide if its too small or too big around my boobs. It just didn't sit right.

I have always had a love affair with Joe Browns. Some times its just a tad 'meh' for me and the sizing can be a bit dodgy sometimes. Even though I have my boots on, I feel really summery with this dress on. Once I get a tan I may even brave bare legs with it!

A few weeks ago on twitter the guys over at SpecsPost very kindly invited me over to their head office to see behind the scenes. so on Friday I travelled across to Manchester to see them.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with SpecsPost, they are a online store, which funnily enough sell glasses. Their glasses start at £10 and they ship worldwide ( having previously ordered, shipping is uber fast. I had my glasses within a week). They have a huge range for glasses and sunglasses for both men and women and I guarantee can you will find frames you like!

After a few minor hiccups the lovely Charlotte meet me from the tram station and away we went.

Upon arrival At the Specspost office I was shown I fab range of glasses, some online already and some that are going online very soon!

I love these purple ones!

Charlotte and her colleague Julie give me a brief history of the brand, how they started and where they plan to take the brand next. Both Charlotte and Julie are extremely lovely and to be honest we could have nattered for hours. They are both seem extremely passionate about SpecsPost and I don't blame them. They also have something very exciting coming soon so keep your eyes open!

Then the try on part!!! I think I tried almost every pair of specs they had! I took a lot of selfies, but lots of the pics had blinding glare on them, so haven't used them! I would highly recommend paying the extra and getting the anti glare coating. I will definitely pay for it on my next pair.

You can follow SpecsPost on twitter here!

#FoodShareFriday - Spaghetti alla Carbonara

For this instalments of #FoodsShareFriday I am going to show  you one of my favourite recipes.

a few years ago I was watching Rick Stein in all his greatness and he made the simplest carbonara I have even seen made. No fussing. No cream. Just pasta, meat, eggs and cheese.

The original recipe can be found on the BBC Food website

The original recipe uses pecorino and pancetta, but they can be quite expensive so I swapped for bacon, ham and Parmesan.

2 eggs

OK, so its really easy!

Put the pasta on to boil and spray so oil in to a frying pan and heat.

Roughly chop the bacon and fry until crispy. Once the bacon is cooked, add shredded ham.

Mix the 2 eggs in a bowl with salt and pepper.

Once pasta is cooked, drain. Keep a ladle of pasta water to one side. Add pasta to frying pan with ham and bacon.

Left pasta for no more than one minute to remove all excess water. Add eggs and stir until all pasta has a light coating and then add the ladle of pasta water.

Keep on the heat until eggs are cooked to your liking. Place in a dish, sprinkle on the Parmesan and ENJOY!

Et Voila!
