Shop Your Stash #3

Welcome to the Shop Your Stash Challenge. This is all about finding a gem in what you already own and creating a blog post on it. This is to let go a little of the stress that comes with being a blogger - even if it is just once a month. Rummage through your beauty products and climb through those clothes draws. You might surprise yourself!

Today was a black day. Not really mood wise. I just fancied wearing all black today.

As this is 'Shop your Stash' everything I am wearing is from my wardrobe and is at least six months old.

Cardi - Last Summer Gap
Vest - Last Summer Simply Be
Jeggings - Dorothy Perkins

I love this vest. As with most vest's it is extremely versatile. BUT it creases very quickly and moves about without me even realising it. Hence the 'dragged through a bush' look!

Check out what all the other lovely blogger shopped this month!

Hayley Hasslehoff for Yours Clothing

By now I am sure you have all seen that Hayley Hasslehoff is the face of the Yours Clothing summer collection.

Personally, I love Hayley. When Yours emailed me and asked who I would like to see modelling their range I suggested Hayley, as I am sure a lot of other people did.

Hayley is a size 16. To me, size 16 is plus size. And definitely is in industry standards! The only difference is most high street stores manufacture and stock up to a size 16 so they have more options that bigger plus size women.

Looking at the Yours Clothing Facebook page, I was totally surprised, (ok, not really that surprised, it is Facebook after all!) to see so many negative comments. Ranging from body shaming, to self projected hatred, to the fact that, god forbid, a British brand should use an American model! I mean, really???

I admit, not too many years ago I would have properly been one of those women. I wanted to see the clothes I wanted to wear on a body that looked like mine and only mine. Sadly, it doesn't matter which models plus size brands use, some people won't ever be happy. The models will either be too big, or too small, or not curvy enough, or too tall!

Yours Clothing is an amazing brand that keep producing fast plus size fashion that I like and that I will keep buying. Of course I would like to see someone who is a size 20 + and my shape modelling, but then someone who isn't that size wouldn't.

Plus size brands will never be able to win. If they use a model that's 'too small' they will be said that they aren't representing their target market. If the model is 'too big', they are promoting obesity.

That aside, the images of Hayley are stunning and I can't wait until payday!!

OOTD || Summertime Sadness

Ok, Summetime sadness might be a tad on the dramatic side, I'm not actually sad. I am just in need of a summer holiday. I am hopefully going to get away when I finish work in October, but who knows!

Yesterday was beautifully hot and sunny, but like most of us, I was stuck in a sweaty office all day. I opted for something cool and comfy.

I have to confess I was really unsure about this outfit. A maxi skirt with a tee tucked in is something that I have wanted to try for awhile but always been a bit scared to try.

My maxi is from George at Asda, HAS POCKETS, and was either £12 or £18, I can't remember. And my tee is from Yours Clothing and can be found here.

What do you think?

Review || Taking Shape Crosstown Shirt

If you read my post from Monday about my recent Taking Shape store visit, you may have noticed that I tried on a white shirt. I loved it instantly!

I am a sucker for white shirt. They go with anything and everything. They are a wardrobe must have!

My trouble with shirts normally is boobage. Yep, I always get that annoying, and sometime embracing gaping. I have to admit, this shirt does gape slightly but the only white bra I have is a pretty poor fit, so with the right size bra, who knows?

I really like the length of this shirt. For me, its the perfect length. I don't having VBO!

I am going to wear the hell out of this shirt. For work, with skinny jeans, with leggings, over a body con vest dress!

AND, it also comes in black!!!!

My only problem... White gets dirty sooooo quickly!!!!

Taking Shape Store Visit

A few weeks ago a was kindly invited along to the Taking Shape store in Liverpool to have a Style Session.

I have to admit, I have never been styled by anyone before and found the idea a little bit daunting. I don't really think I have a 'style'. I like dresses and I like skinny jeans and cute tops. I stick with what I know (think) works for me.

I have reviewed Taking Shape before (here and here) but have to admit that a lot of the items they have actually look better on. The sizing is also a leaves a bit to be desired (I got one dress in a 16 and the other in a 22!!)

On Saturday, I popped myself across the Pennines to a wet and muggy Liverpool, for my first Taking Shape store visit.

The store is located up a side street next to Primark and I walked pasted it twice before I realised I had found it (the Cath Kidson shop is also next door to it).

When I arrived I was greeted by the lovely Paula, who explained that from reading my blog she had picked out some outfits that she thought I would like (mainly dresses!) and a few that she had pulled together from their best sellers.

Paradise Garden Trousers & Cut out Tunic
I love these trouser. I have been tempted with floral trousers on many occasion but never took the plunge. The trousers are pull on trousers but they fit lovely. If this top would have been cotton or jersey I would have snapped it up, but it is a polyester/Elastane mix.

Editorial Shorts & Crosstown Shirt
I found a white shirt that almost fits!! The length is perfect, and though it does gape slightly, the next size up would have been too big. The 'short's are cute, but I would have preferred them looser to give a more 'culotte' look.

French Fleur Tunic
I thought this dress was really feminine and girlie, but looking at the pictures again, I can see it does nothing for me. It also comes in black, which might have been better, but they don't have any in store.

Sapphire Dress
How cute is this dress? If we were just going in to Autumn rather than Summer I would have bought this dress. And although I did end up with a Black dress, this just didn't tick every box.

Vanguish Dress
I love the shape of this dress. I already have one in the same shape and tried a few other on with a different print.

Borocay Dress
Although this dress is a bit more 'grown up' than I would normally go for, Its perfect for me. For some reason it had an almost vintage feel to it. I actually sized down to a size 16 in this dress, which is two sizes smaller that I would normally wear. I will do a full OOTD on this post in the coming weeks.

French Swing Top & Castello Jeans
I really liked this top. I love pink, it has cute capped sleeves and is a perfect length. The jeans I tried are supposed to be crops but as you can see they are ankle length on me. I think this top would look amazing with some tight black skinny jeans, a biker jacket and some pink killer heels.

Know I have saved what I though was the best until last. I didn't even see this dress until I was outside having a naughty cigarette, and a women was showing her friend it!

Sonata Dress
Ok, so I tweeted a photo of me in this in orange, and I loved it. My nephews are getting christened in July and it would have been perfect. BUT, I would have only worn once. The black one,  I can wear again. Well, that's my argument and I am sticking too it!

Taking Shape kindly gifted me two of the item, the sonata dress and the crosstown shirt and I bought the borocay dress, all of which I will do separate post on when I wear them.

If you are in Liverpool, or nearby any other store, I highly recommend booking a style session or just calling in. You can find your nearest store here. Taking Shape are also opening stores in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in the coming weeks too!

I can't thank Paula and Taking Shape enough for invited me to their store.

Review || Elegant Touch False Nails

I love having nice nails. Sadly I am not blessed with them. As soon as my nails start growing, they either peel or snap.

Previously I have had gelish manicure, gel extensions and acrylic extension. They never last. With gel mani's I can generally get 4/5 days out of them and maybe a week out of gel or acrylic extension.

The perfect option for me is self adhesive/glue on false nails. They give the desired effect, and if they come off after a few days (this application last 3 days), I don't feel like I have wasted my money.

These are my most recent purchase.

Elegant touch polished pastel nails in short.

Oddly enough, I can't find these on either the Elegant Touch website or the Tesco Direct website.

*Elegant Touch have since been in touch informing me that these nails are now discontinued. An alternative can be found here*

In the pack was 36 nails (12 of each colour), glue and a nail buffer.

Pastel nails seem to be all the range at the moment, and these actually made me feel almost 'trendy' for a change!

I am going to try pastel French tips next I think!

Same Size, Different Shape #1

It really fascinates me that us women can be the same size but look totally different. So, been the nosy little so-and-so that I am, I decided to find a group of women who, like me, are a size 20 a fancied a new challenge.

On the 10th of each month we will blog the same type of item and show you just how different we each look.

For the first month the theme is skinny jeans or jeggings. For me these, these are a must have in my wardrobe. I buy my skinnies from Simply Be and my jeggings from Dorothy Perkins.

Size - 20
Height - 5'2
Shape - Pear
