Taking Shape Store Visit

A few weeks ago a was kindly invited along to the Taking Shape store in Liverpool to have a Style Session.

I have to admit, I have never been styled by anyone before and found the idea a little bit daunting. I don't really think I have a 'style'. I like dresses and I like skinny jeans and cute tops. I stick with what I know (think) works for me.

I have reviewed Taking Shape before (here and here) but have to admit that a lot of the items they have actually look better on. The sizing is also a leaves a bit to be desired (I got one dress in a 16 and the other in a 22!!)

On Saturday, I popped myself across the Pennines to a wet and muggy Liverpool, for my first Taking Shape store visit.

The store is located up a side street next to Primark and I walked pasted it twice before I realised I had found it (the Cath Kidson shop is also next door to it).

When I arrived I was greeted by the lovely Paula, who explained that from reading my blog she had picked out some outfits that she thought I would like (mainly dresses!) and a few that she had pulled together from their best sellers.

Paradise Garden Trousers & Cut out Tunic
I love these trouser. I have been tempted with floral trousers on many occasion but never took the plunge. The trousers are pull on trousers but they fit lovely. If this top would have been cotton or jersey I would have snapped it up, but it is a polyester/Elastane mix.

Editorial Shorts & Crosstown Shirt
I found a white shirt that almost fits!! The length is perfect, and though it does gape slightly, the next size up would have been too big. The 'short's are cute, but I would have preferred them looser to give a more 'culotte' look.

French Fleur Tunic
I thought this dress was really feminine and girlie, but looking at the pictures again, I can see it does nothing for me. It also comes in black, which might have been better, but they don't have any in store.

Sapphire Dress
How cute is this dress? If we were just going in to Autumn rather than Summer I would have bought this dress. And although I did end up with a Black dress, this just didn't tick every box.

Vanguish Dress
I love the shape of this dress. I already have one in the same shape and tried a few other on with a different print.

Borocay Dress
Although this dress is a bit more 'grown up' than I would normally go for, Its perfect for me. For some reason it had an almost vintage feel to it. I actually sized down to a size 16 in this dress, which is two sizes smaller that I would normally wear. I will do a full OOTD on this post in the coming weeks.

French Swing Top & Castello Jeans
I really liked this top. I love pink, it has cute capped sleeves and is a perfect length. The jeans I tried are supposed to be crops but as you can see they are ankle length on me. I think this top would look amazing with some tight black skinny jeans, a biker jacket and some pink killer heels.

Know I have saved what I though was the best until last. I didn't even see this dress until I was outside having a naughty cigarette, and a women was showing her friend it!

Sonata Dress
Ok, so I tweeted a photo of me in this in orange, and I loved it. My nephews are getting christened in July and it would have been perfect. BUT, I would have only worn once. The black one,  I can wear again. Well, that's my argument and I am sticking too it!

Taking Shape kindly gifted me two of the item, the sonata dress and the crosstown shirt and I bought the borocay dress, all of which I will do separate post on when I wear them.

If you are in Liverpool, or nearby any other store, I highly recommend booking a style session or just calling in. You can find your nearest store here. Taking Shape are also opening stores in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in the coming weeks too!

I can't thank Paula and Taking Shape enough for invited me to their store.
