Rub your thighs!

OK, so the title might be a tad over the top. But it's not off topic.

For years I avoided going bare legs due to the dreaded chub rub, but since blogging I have learnt some useful tricks and found some wonderful products.

For a while I have been using the anti chafe pants from The Big Bloomers company. But with the amazing hot weather we have had of late, they were just far too warm to wear.

When Vevina contacted me me to see if I would be interested in trying their anti chafe cream. I have tried loads of creams and had a mixed experience with them.

Vevina is a white cream which absorbs clear when you rub it on your thighs (or area that chafes) and is odourless, which is always a bonus.

I used this on a day when I was off work and it was absolutely red hot. I decide to swear a sundress and didn't want to wear my shorts underneath. I applied the cream to the full length of my thighs to ensure maximum coverage and got to work cleaning, making a trip to the shop and general every day stuff! I was also running around after a three years old for an hour, and had NO CHAFING!

In total honesty, it doesn't often get as warm in this country as it has been of late so probably wouldn't use this much in the UK, but this would be a definite winner on holidays abroad when you don't want to wear modesty shorts when going out during the day or leggings when going out on a night.

Vevina comes in a small red tube that wouldn't look out of place in your makeup bag or hand bag.

How do you avoid chub rub?

Would you like a tube of Vavina? I'll send the first eight people to comment a FREE tube to try for themselves!

Review || ELVi

When a parcel arrival in such a pretty box it's tempting to not open it.

I was torn between wanted to look at this beautiful dress and wanted to stare at the box a bit more! It made me feel really special, a bit sadly really!

What was inside the box? Let me show you.

This beautiful dress from ELVi*

Made from a lovely heavy jersey, I was instantly drawn to it. The love prints!

I ordered a size 22 (I am normally a size 20) and although it is true to size, I think I should have gone for a size 24. I am not really a fan of body con, so sizing up would give me a shift dress style.

Its really easy to wear. Perfect for work or a shopping trip. But sadly, as much as I love it, sadly it doesn't suit me. And it made me really sad.

ELVi will be at Plus North this year so if they are a new brand to you, you will be able to check them out at the event. In the mean time, I urge you to visit their website.

These items are definitely going on my wish list.

Brand Spotlight || Simply be

35 days people!! THIRTY. FIVE. DAYS!

Its probably an understatement to say that I am becoming a bit nervous. I am starting to imaging that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. I have an awesome team working with me, they are helping to keep me sane and talking sense in to me when I need it!

As most of you know, Simply Be are one of our premier sponsors, and have been since the first Plus North. Their range of clothing and their concessions are best bar none and, in all honesty, their on going support of Plus North is one of the reasons that I continued with Plus North this year.

Anyway, Simply Be very kindly sent Emma, Kim, Gemma and myself the same item to review and get you excite for what they will be showcasing at Plus North.

The item in question? This lovely Tux jacket with PU trim

Before I received it, I already knew what I wanted to wear with. For me, this is the perfect addition to my love of black. Black skinny jeans, black vest and black jacket.

Simply Be Tux jacket with PU trim

This is my serious face!!!
I ordered the jacket in a size 22, but really didn't need to. I had plenty of boob room and the arms were slightly too long. But I don't think It looks over big.

Don't forget that you can still but Plus North tickets at

And remember to check out Emma, Kim and Gemma's blog to see how they have worn their jacket.

Review || Oriflame Everyday Makeup

A few month back, you might remember that I attended the launch of Oriflame's The One range.

Following on from that I was send The One Illuskin Blush and the Colour Match eye shadow duo. Both products are from The Ones Everyday range. priding itself on efficient all in one solutions taking makeup routine from high maintenance to effortless. Created to look flawless and low maintenance, but usable for your everyday face or makeup on the go.

Illuskin Blush

Available in three shades, this is Pink Glow, Illuskin allows you to sculpt and define your face whilst leaving a healthy glow effect. When I received this I was a little sceptical about the pink of the blush. It reminds me of when little girls play with makeup. When I swatched it, it didn't really make me feel much better. But when mixed with the light shades it really does give a real nice effect. As it gives a healthy glow, its really subtle and is barely there. The lighter shade has a slight shimmer in it and looks really nice when the light catches it.

The Illuskin is out now and is currently £6.95

Colour Match Eye Shadow Duo

Highly pigmented and silky soft. This duo allows you to create a daytime smokey eye effect without been over the top and 'going out' nights. At the Blog Yorkshire event Georgina used wet eye shadow to create a smudge effect. I tried it with this duo and it gives an awesome dramatic effect. What I like most about this duo is the fact that although it is highly pigmented, its not too dark. I often find duo's of a similar colour are too dark for a day time look. And they both look equally as nice with other shadows, or in the case of the lighter colour, on its own.

The eyeshadow duo's will be available in five shades and launch on the 15th August and will be at an introductory price of £7.95.

OOTD || Primark Daisy Dress

It's not often I buy clothes from Primark. In fact that's a lie. I spend loads of money in Primark. But its mainly on shoes and leggings. Most of the clothes I buy end up going back (I am rubbish on trying on).

For some reason I ended up keeping this dress.

It's a really thin material, so perfect for these really muggy days that we have been having of late.

This dress is a size 20 and is very true to size. You can't really tell on these photos but it was uber uber tight around my boobs. It's also really short too. Thank goodness for leggings.

I must try more things from Primark. Their sizing is so urgh though. Must try hard Primark! Or better still, extend your size range!

Blog Yorkshire - July

One of the perks of blogging is that I get to go to awesome events. Last Saturday was one of these awesome events. Organised by Carrianne and Faith, they are now known as Blog Yorkshire.

I always love meeting up with bloggers that are local to me, and the Yorkshire lot are great group to spend time with.

Blog Yorkshire was held at the very trendy Revolution on The Calls in Leeds. The space allocated was quite small and the rest of the bar was open, mainly to a groups of hen parties, but it was still a great atmosphere and a great day.

Carrianne and Faith managed to secure some amazing brands to attend they included Espa, Pastille Nail Bar, Allertons Hairdressers, RockPamperScissors, Country Attire, Quiz Clothing and the beautiful Georgina doing make overs. As well as contributions from Wynsors and House of Fraser.

After a quick introduction we were left to mingle and chat to the brands. Having meet the Espa girls before at Hayley's event I was eager to speak to them again for some more reassuring advice regarding my skin care. I am really really cautious of what I put on my skin. But the girls recommended that I try one of their kits for dehydrated skin. I will test and let you know!

Sadly I missed out on getting my nails done, or winning anything from the raffle, but I walked away with an awesome goody bag, and further affirmation that I love attending event that I am not organising!

Now the photos!

The theme was 'Festivals'. The one and only festival I have been to was a very wet Glasto 7 years ago. SO I just went with something weather appropriate and add my fabulous crown!

A massive thanks to Carrianne and Faith for organising Blog Yorkshire. Now when is the next one?

Simply Be Store Review

Last week I was contacted by the lovely Carey at Label PR to see if I would be interested in visiting the Leeds branch of Simply Be for a style consultation.

I have visited the Leeds store a number of times but never had a style consultation with Simply Be. I am pretty easy when it comes to styling. The only thing I won't wear are jumpsuits. I just can't get my head around them. Plus I look absolutely hideous in them.

It's actually been awhile since I last visited the store. I was excited to see the new items that has just dropped in store as well as checking out the sale. I really wanted to see if they had the animal print duster jacket in store.

The lovely store manager Kirsty met me on arrival and asked mes at few questions about what I liked and didn't like and showed me some of the top selling items.

I was quite surprised to learn that the store don't selected what items they stock. They can request items that they want or items that customer are asking for, and if available they occasionally get them.

What I really like about Simply Be stores are the fact they stock a bit of everything. They have their own brand as well as a good mix of other brands. The Alice and You range seemed very popular in store.

Now the pics. I had to take some with my phone as the store was extremely busy and poor Kirsty was running backwards and forwards to see if I was OK whilst dealing with customers.

I loved how this sat on my boobs. To get a fit I was happy with thought, I had to size up to a 24. TWO sizes bigger than normal!

Very very short! Even with leggings it was more like a tunic. This is a 20 and it's a bit big around the boob area. However, it has pockets and that's makes it a winner in my eyes. This is definitely one that is going on my wish list!

Palazzo Print Pants - Different Print and Crochet sleeve top

This is one of those sizing goes of the window. I don't know if it's because the bottoms are made of cheesecloth, but these are a size 16. And I love them. They come in  few different prints too. And the top is just adorable!

Alice and You denim dress and kimono

I had to size up to a 24 again in this. And again it was pretty short. I don't love or hate the kimono. I think it looks good with the dress though.

Favourite dress of the day. It's just so bloody cute! I love the shape, the print and the colours. This might be my Plus North Dress!

Ok, what do you notice about these two photos? Answer. The one on the left is a size 16-18 and the one on the right is a 12-14. Yes, you read that right. A size 12-14. I know it's supposed to be over sized, but this is crazy. After trying on both dresses a number of times, I decided I liked the fit of the 16-18 better than the 12-14. Although it did give a better shape, I preferred how the bigger size fell. Especially when I walked.

Another item that I needed to size up in. Is it just me that Alice and You seems to be a really small fit on? Apart from swing dresses I seem to need at least 2 sizes bigger that what I normally wear. This is casual perfection for me. Would look great with skinny jeans and leggings, covers my bum and sits low enough at the front. And the print is marvellous.

I want this for my Christmas dress. It felt amazing on and very luxurious. The slip under the sheer skirt is quite short so I would probably wear this dress with some tights. This photo was also took using the Magic Mirror in the changing rooms. If you haven't used the this before, it take four photos and then gives you the option to either print or email the photos.

As you can see, the Leeds store is quite spacious. Even with the sale rails out, there was lots of space even when the store as busy.

Simply Be stores also stock a great range of lingerie and footwear. And as with most Simply Be stores, there is a Jacamo upstairs.

Can you guess which two items I added to my wardrobe?

I feel Good || July

You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".

We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

I took this photo on Saturday after a very long Saturday. I was up at the crack of dawn to get to a store visit and then attended the wonder Blog Yorkshire event in Leeds City Centre.

I was in the middle of taking a 'selfie' and the boy decided to get back in the car!

I am addicted to filters at the moment and really want to get back into photography a little bit more. Its also one of the last photos of me with long hair that you will see for awhile. My head needs a rest and I need new extensions.

And look at my amazing floral crown. The ridiculously talented Lucy made this with fresh flowers. She is in the process of writing a tutorial on how to make these, so keep your eyes peeled.

OOTD - Rrrrrrripping

I have been on the look out for a pair of ripped jeans since the beginning of summer and I had almost given up hope until I found these.

I adore the styling of ripped jeans. They are so versatile. Today I wore flats, a swing vest and a kimono for a casual, laid back Sunday shopping trip. But for a night out I would swap the flats for heels and the kimono for a blazer.

I decided to size up in these jeans. I wanted a more 'boyfriend' fit jean rather than a skinny jean. They are a tad too big around the waist, but I think a size 20 would have been too restricted and uncomfortable.

Jeans - George at Asda - £16
Vest - Old - F&F
Kimono - Yours Clothing - £23 (out of stock)

Simply Be Wish List

I don't often do wish list's but this morning Simply Be dropped their July edition and i am kinda in love with some of the items.

I am having a bit of a love affair with separates at the moment however I am struggling to find items that suite me.

I love this top. It reminds me of the Alice and You one that I wore here.

I love the colour and for £20 you can't really go far wrong!

Simply Be animal print dipped hem top

As usual Simply Be have the best range of dresses and smocks and tunic I have seen and although I am pretty sure I don't need any more dresses in my life, I would really like to add these to my wardrobe very soon.

Ok, SO I know its July and we have had a very nice summer so far, but I have started thinking about my AWwardrobe already. I know, I know, but I have seen some beautiful items and can't wait to start buying. One thing I find easier to buy during the winter is footwear! I love boots. Sadly my tan knee boots are too big for me this year and need replacing. They will be replaced by these

I am going to try no to spend anything else for the rest of the month so I can buy these come payday!

The boots will be a few month later hopefully!

Have you looked at the Simply Be site recently? What takes your fancy?

Same Size, Different Shape #2

This months theme is swing dresses.

I went through a massive phases of wearing only swing dresses. Now they have to really catch my eye for me to buy them.

For today's post I am wearing a dress I have blogged about before but sadly now needs go to heaven. After the first time of washing and wearing it went horribly bobbly and now after more washing and wearing it looks old and tatty!

But fear not. I have seen loooooads of these on eBay!

Review || Black Heart Creatives

A few weeks back the lovely Charlotte from Black Heart Creatives asked if any bloggers would like to review an item for her new Palm Bling Collection.

Having a severe lack of costume jewellery I register my interest and waited to see if I was lucky enough to be picked.

When Charlotte contacted me to say that she would send me an item from the new collection I was over the moon. And then a bit scared. Costume jewellery scares me. And I don't know why. Maybe it's partly due to the fact that before I started blogging all the items I wanted never fit me. I could never buy pretty rings or bracelets that fit my fat fingers or chubby wrists?

I was really happy when I received the palm bling earrings. I have had my ears pierced since I was 5 and have lots of pretty earrings!

The Palm Bling earrings are a steal at £10 and are available in matte gold and mirrored gold. As is the matching necklace that is also available.

The earring are actually quite a bit bigger than I expected, but surprising light. I wore them all day and didn't have sore ears when I took them out.

I apologise for my very long and wonky bangs. They have now be cut and isn't at all wonky!
I also love the fiiiiiiapple studs, and with the generous 20% discount that I can share with you all (code further down) I will definitely be buying them!

For the next 7 days you too can get 20% off any BlackHeartCreatives order by using the code ton20. (valid for one week)

So, tell me what you're going to buy!
